Report on the inter – club Battered Pint Competition.

Held at the Henhayes Centre on Friday 29th April.

The choice of centre proved to be an excellent one as we had ample space for all activities, room for each team to have it’s own table, room for a scorers table and a convenient space for the buffet tables.

Thanks must go to all the Probus members present and some wives for their input on the evening. All the games were well received and added to a lot of challenge and fun. Quiz questions were well conceived and enjoyed by the teams. The whole evening was compered by Past President Bob Griffiths – thanks go to Bob.

The scoring team of Pat Johns, Mary Fowler and Ros Griffiths worked extremely well and there were no challenges as to their scoring.

Many thanks for the donations of draw prizes and the draw raised an additional £99 – thanks to Roger.

The buffet was superb and many lovely comments were received for the spread.

Rosemary Prince and Beth ran the bar and served and cleared the buffet – all done in a calm and efficient manner – we owe them a debt of gratitude.

Winners were Crewkerne Rotary District who will take on the mantle of hosting the next event.

The income from those present was £285 and (can you believe?) the Henhayes bill for buffet and room was £285. Additionally we provided the box of wine prize and a wine gift for the Chef (courtesy of Tim Udall) which came to £45.50. The additional income will go into club funds for our usage.

Overall an excellent evening and we will have done great credit to our name of Crewkerne Probus Club.

There were suggestions that all Battered Pint events should be held at Henhayes as it was so good!!!!
