British Heart Foundation Garden Party Report

As President this year (22 – 23) I followed the prerogative of Presidents to declare a particular charity for the Club to support. I presented the Charity, British Heart Foundation to the Executive meeting and it was supported by the Executive and by the Club.

So on the 5th July the Party was held at 2, Lyme Road (my home}. Over 65 people attended and made the occasion a very busy and successful one. In addition to members and wives I had many friends, neighbours and representatives of local organisations all present.

With the support of my wife, Probus friends and their wives we were able to lay on a superb spread of food. There were tables and seating, under gazebos and umbrellas, enough for everyone. Plus there were stalls for books, plants, produce and crafts all for sale. The event included displays of photography, Olde Crewkerne, art pictures and quilting all there to interest and entertain our visitors.

Live music was performed by Lucy Singleton on piano. She played beautifully and kept everyone entertained with a wonderful mix of tunes.

The event raised a total  of £1750 which included various additional donations. This was a staggering sum raised in just a few hours.

My thanks go to all the those who helped in any way. To list everyone would take up a great deal of time and space. The generosity shown to the British Heart Foundation was overwhelming and I am sure our efforts will be put to very good use.
