  1. Officer’s reports:
    • Treasurer Mike Luff referred to his circulated financial report which was accepted and Mike was thanked for the clear presentation. He repeated his willingness to accept Bacs payments for the upcoming Xmas lunch.
    • Secretary Irvin Johns referred to the Club’s insurance which was now paid to our agents Fidentia Brokers. We welcome new member Gordon Hughes. He asked if we should plan additional fund raising for our charity donation. Xmas diner will be holding a raffle and there should be further funds available to discuss in January from the 50% rule.
    • He also asked the President to point out to the members that tie sales were available from the Secretary.
    • Catering service has been very good. The meals equally so. The possibility of a venue like Winyards Gap was proposed and possibly others – the issue of exclusivity was raised but was not thought to preclude other venues. Bob Griffiths will talk with Winyards Gap management in the first instance.
    • Fellowship = no report
    • Social secretary Irvin had no report but he will approach ARK with a view to a willow craft session in the early spring. The committee also referred to the proposal for a visit to Aerial car production – this can be followed up in the new year.
    • Functions officer Roger Fowler reported on 28 names to date for the Christmas lunch and we need to increase this to 40+ if possible. This is needed for the option of a 3 course meal.
    • Too much food has been a reason for not attending and there was a suggestion for just two courses. Select 2 from 3 ? was suggested. Also reduced price may help. Follow up is proposed for January after this year’s Xmas lunch.
    • President’s comments. Jon Jarrett spoke on how pleased he was with the general running of the Club. He also commented on the need to increase recruitment – this is agreed by all.
  1. Speaker programme – Bob Griffiths reported on speakers to date and that two speakers Ian Munro and Peter Taylor will present second half of their talks some time next year.
  2. Bob spoke about Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance who require a guarantee of £50+ to present a talk. The meeting agreed to meet this. Also they will bring merchandise to sell.
  3. After some discussion it was agreed to ask Stoodleys to present a talk on bereavement.
