Garden Party Event Report
On a very hot day President Jon opened his garden for this Probus Party Event.
Fortunately gazebos were erected the day before so that all those present were able to sit in shade. Thanks to Mark and Sally Harris for various equipment from the Bible Christian Centre n Haselbury.
Approximately 30 people were able to enjoy the activities on offer. There was an excellent performance of live music from Jane’s brother and sister which was most welcome and very much enjoyed.
Tea and scones with jam and cream were served and thoroughly enjoyed, again with thanks to Jane Jarrett and Sally Harris for their organisation in presenting the teas.
Following the tea, quizzes were distributed and proved fun for all with winners gaining pride but no prize!!!!!
David Welch, from the Crewkerne District Rotary Club, made a presentation on EVAG which is an organisation set up to help victims of flooding. He showed a number of items available to protect against flooding and how as an organisation they go to communities to advise on prevention of flooding. This is something close to the heart of Somerset people with floods in Crewkerne, Martock, Ilminster and the notorious LEVELS in recent years.
The Garden Party had two functions. One was for a social occasion to get together. The second was to raise Club funds for the President’s chosen charity which is EVAG.
The event raised £172 which our treasurer will ring fence for charity. The raffle alone raised £87 with all prizes donated by members – thank you so much for that.
In all it was a very successful event enjoyed by all and grateful thanks go to Jon and Jane Jarrett for making their garden available.
